Journal Archives

Slowly But Surely   2004-10-03

The site is slowly taking shape.

I'll be posting eight new photos of Taipei each week. To view the photos, just click on the thumbnails above. The photos will launch in a new, popup window.

The journal has been a little thin lately, but that will be changing shortly. Marlene and I have been mired in the worst work experience of our lives for the past month or so and consequently our time and energy for all things extra curricular has been at an all time low. However, change is afoot. We'll be finishing work at one of our schools in two weeks and consequently we'll have a lot more time for living and laughing - which means more and better journal entries.

Until then ...

"Great to see some photos Todd! So glad to hear that you're getting out of that school alive before they skin you. We were thinking of you and Marlene this Thanksgiving, wishing you were able to share it with us. We had Kevin, Allison, Brian and Ray over for a sushi feast Madoka prepared. Dad brought the homemade Banana cream pie to top it off. It was deelish. And after dinner - a little trombone! That's right bro, it's my new cardio program/spit valve. Stay tuned for a whole raft of embarassing new sounds as I struggle to perfect a gashed bag of noble gas."

"There's nothing that makes my day more than hearing you've taken up that much maligned instrument, the trombone. I don't know much about playing the trombone, but I do remember "D" is played in the fourth position - the tips of your fingers, if extended parallel with the plane of the bell, should just touch the rim of the bell. Don't forget, keep your abs tight, breathe from your diaphragm, and focus on your embouchure. Soldier on regardless of the opposition.
